| In 1963 Nutra Nuts were invented by Noel Porro (aka: Grandpa Po), a first generation Italian born in Brooklyn, New York in 1915. He, his three brothers, two sisters and parents moved to Floral Park, Long Island in the early 1920's. Following his father's penchant for the sciences, Noel earned a Bachelors and a Master degree in Chemistry from
Columbia University. After serving in WWII, he met and married Genevieve Mary Brennan. Together they raised six children in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Their house on Emmett Place was also the birthplace of Nutra Nuts and other Porro inventions. Po was a Pony League Baseball coach for many years. He enjoyed sharing his love for the game with the kids in town. It was rumored that Nutra Nuts was the reason for his team's winning records throughout the years. Po is famous for attending Mass daily, his dry sense of "humah", his typewritten letters with New York Yankee updates throughout, his love of the hot glue gun and silver duct tape, and his culinary creations: Baseball Soup, Celle Beans, Leftovers Spaghetti Sauces and of course Grandpa Po's Nutra Nuts, now known as Grandpa Po's Originals.
